Shane Ryan - Captain
Nationality: Canadian
Captain Shane grew up in the Pacific Northwest, just outside of Vancouver, Canada, where his lifelong love for the water began. Over 20 years ago, he started his boating journey as a salmon fishing guide on the West Coast, dedicating a decade to honing his skills. Seeking new adventures, Shane and his wife Mandy moved south to Florida to pursue a career in yachting.
As captain, Shane is committed to creating unforgettable experiences for every guest. He crafts remarkable itineraries with precision, ensuring guests experience the joy of checking off wishlist items while making the most of every moment on their journey. Whether it´s exploring hidden gems or enjoying water sports, Shane loves introducing guests to new adventures while making sure their time on board is exceptional. Captain Shane brings a wealth of experience and passion to every charter, always keeping guest safety at the forefront.
In his spare time, Shane enjoys fishing, golfing, and playing hockey. He is excited to showcase the breathtaking beauty and thrilling adventures the Bahamas has to offer.
Mandy Luscombe - Chef
Nationality: Canadian
Mandy grew up in a small town outside of Kelowna British Columbia, Canada. Her taste for organic and fresh ingredients started at a young age as she was taught bread making and canning from her mother who is a chef. She is very passionate about healthy cooking and utilizing the fresh ingredients around her. She started traveling the world at age 19 starting in Australia then moving to New Zealand at 21. She then traveled around Europe settling for a year in Scotland.
This exposed her to many different tastes and styles of cuisine. Before yachting, Mandy worked as a corporate trainer in high-end restaurants learning about service and various cooking techniques. Being from a wine country in Canada, Mandy has taken great interest in the industry and is very knowledgeable about food and wine pairing. In 2012 she took a year off to go to expand her knowledge and enrolled in a culinary program at The Art Institute in Vancouver. While in Vancouver studying, she met her husband, Shane. Together they have made a career out of yachting and have traveled extensively for work and pleasure including The Bahamas, Indonesia, Central America, the USA, and Mexico.
Stephanie Girdlestone - Chief Stewardess
Nationality: American
Born and raised in Knoxville, TN, Stephanie has always had a passion for adventure. After moving to Alpharetta, GA, she eventually moved to Sarasota, FL and then finally found herself in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where her love for yachting truly blossomed. Since 2022, she has been honing her skills as a dedicated stewardess aboard vessels ranging from 100 to 130 feet, consistently striving to provide an exceptional level of service to her guests.
Prior to her career in yachting, Stephanie gained valuable experience as an inventory manager and as a server at a prestigious 5-star steak and seafood restaurant. She is drawn to life on the water, enjoying activities such as snorkeling, free-diving & any water sport there is. She also enjoys golfing and traveling all over the world exploring new destinations. The Bahamas has become a second home for her, where she finds peace in the breathtaking blue waters and immerses herself in the vibrant local culture every day.
Aaron Carey - First Mate
Nationality: Bahamian
Aaron grew up in the beachside settlement of Tarpum Bay on the island of Eleuthera, a town deeply rooted in fishing and seafaring traditions. As a child, he was involved in a wide range of activities, from baseball, basketball, and track and field, to fishing, spearfishing, and performing lead roles in local plays and choir groups.
Aaron´s yachting journey began in 2019, driven by his love for the ocean and his desire to share its beauty with those who truly appreciate it. He has served as a mate on M/Y BASH II and M/Y JOURNEY, and as a Second Engineer/Bosun on M/Y HIGHLANDER. Prior to yachting, Aaron managed landscape operations and heavy machinery.
Known for his expertise in safely navigating even the most challenging waters, Aaron ensures that guests feel completely at ease throughout their journey. As a Bahamian native, his goal is to offer guests an authentic and unforgettable experience of the Bahamas, filled with activities that not only meet but exceed their expectations. When he’s not on board, Aaron coaches the Bahamas water polo team, practices carpentry, and enjoys grilling for his community on weekends.

The high and low prices of this yacht depend on both the number of guests and the traveling season. Send us an inquiry for exact pricing.
Yacht terms: Plus Expenses
The price includes a professional crew operating your chartered yacht, but all running expenses such as fuel, tax, provisions and any other costs are extra. Calculate between 15-25% for a sailing yacht and 25-35% for a motor yacht on top of the given rate with an APA cash payment made to the ships agent or captain, who will keep an open tap and produce full accounts of all expenditures. Unused APA money will be refunded. Inquire for more information.

Bahamas - The Exhuma Islands Edition: we met the Margate & the incredible crew huddled under golf umbrellas in the pouring rain. 30 mins later and for the remaining days on board she gently rocked on the crystal-clear turquoise waters with the warm sun kissing our skin, the air carrying the scent of salt and adventures along with the kind of tranquility that could only be found far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The days faded effortlessly into evenings, the horizon set ablaze with sunsets that no camera nor filter could truly capture - vibrant hues of orange & pink while we stared in awe, feeling both small and infinite in the face of nature´s brilliance.
We enjoyed exploring the waters on jet skis, swam with nurse sharks, visited the famous swimming pigs, fed the resident iguanas, fished and went snorkeling around Pablo Escobar´s sunken plane with the local aquatic life. There was an (over!) abundance of food, laughter & togetherness - the kind of scene you want to hold onto forever and carry with you long after the trip has ended - grateful and blessed...

This was the 3rd time my broker has helped us charter a yacht. Every time has been exceptional. On this charter I was surprising my wife for her 60th birthday and I wanted to keep it a secret. The entire crew of ´Margate´ went above and beyond to make this the best birthday my wife has ever had. They made sure every detail was taken care of just the way we wanted. Even having the crew on the pier the day we boarded with a birthday cake and singing Happy Birthday. The Yacht ´Margate´ was incredible. It had everything you could think of and more. Jet ski´s, slides, hot tub, fishing equipment, underwater scooters. And the yacht was spotless! The crew was also top notch! Mandy the chef prepared some of the best food we have ever had! Ollie was fantastic and attended to our every need. Aaron, the first mate, was always helpful and Captain Shane was fantastic and took us to some beautiful places throughout the Exumas. Plus, he kept us safe through some bad weather that popped up. I would definitely charter this yacht again and without a doubt, will be using my broker for any future charters we do. Thank you to my broker and the entire crew of ´Margate´ for making this a trip we will cherish forever!!

Thank you so much for a fantastic vacation. The excursions, the meals, the service - everything was top-notch. On a scale of 1 to 10 we would rate both the crew and the trip an 11!
Duran is a great captain and planned a perfect itinerary for our family. Shane kept the cruise going smoothly and made an amazing video. We loved every dish Mandy made. She is a master chef who expertly accommodated some picky eaters. Didi always has a smile on her face and made us feel at home. We were always surprised and delighted by her table decorations.
This was a trip of a lifetime and the best way to experience the beauty of the Bahamas. Thank you to all the crew for giving us so many special memories. We will always cherish.

This was a trip of a lifetime! The crew were exceptional, very accommodating and friendly. We had some fantastic excursions, picnic on the beach, which was a lot of work for the crew but they pulled it off without a hitch.
The Margate was very clean, all the rooms were wonderful, definitely would do it again if given the opportunity. Special mention for Mandy and her culinary skills, so yummy.

Yes, we really enjoyed the experience. It was sad that we had to spend two nights at Atlantis due to bad weather, since the Exumas is such a beautiful place and we were having a great time with the crew. My friend ***** had so much fun and loved the experience so much that he is already looking forward to the next charter.
Like you mentioned before, a crew with experience makes a very big difference. I have been very lucky to have amazing crews on both charters and would be very difficult to say which one was the best. The crew on Margate was very friendly and at the end we were like family. Mandy and Ollie were simply amazing in every aspect.
Here are the answers to your questions and You can call me if you need more information.
1- Yes, the yacht was very comfortable, and everybody loved it. It is the perfect size for one or two families. The amenities and toys were great.
2- Yes, the yacht is in very good condition, and everything worked well. The interior was in excellent shape and felt like home.
3- The crew was amazing, and they provided a level of service beyond what I expected. Like I said, Mandy and Ollie were simply amazing.
4- Chef Mandy was far beyond what we expected. She is just an amazing human being. She was always trying to please and accommodate each one of us, her blueberry muffins were the hit of the charter and her creations were healthy and delicious. Ollie was also amazing, and her decorations were so much fun. I really do not know how she did so much in a day.
5- The itinerary that we had planned was great but due to the weather we had to make lots of changes which was very disappointing.
6- No, the yacht and the crew were perfect.
7- Food was both excellent and healthy.
8- Yes, I will charter Margate again and is probably our yacht of choice for our next year’s charters. Both ***** and I have already recommended Margate to several friends.
