Okeana - Crewed Catamaran Charter

I just returned from a week-long BVI charter with a group of seven friends on ´Okeana´ with Captain Dal Flynn and Chef Anna Vann. I just wanted to give credit to our wonderful crew. Both Dal and Anna were top notch and the best overall team I have had the pleasure of sailing with in the four charters I have booked.

Dal was a perfect blend of professionalism and personality. His witty sense of humor was perfect for our group and set the tone for a relaxed and fun week. The boat was very well maintained, and it was clear Dal takes pride in its upkeep and operation. He was also very accommodating, often looking up drink recipes to suit our tastes and requests, as well as adjusting the itinerary so we could meet up with a friend who was scheduled to be in the area. That flexibility led us to experience a site we had not been to on previous charters, and gave us one of the most enjoyable sailing days of the trip (in my opinion.)

Anna is not only a great Chef, she also takes a lot of pride in the presentation. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted great. She has a sweet, easy going personality and I loved hearing about her sailing history around the world. We so appreciated how hard she worked and commented more than once that she was constantly making us something tasty to eat.

Our group felt so comfortable and well cared for the entire trip, and Dal and Anna´s working relationship was notably relaxed and without tension, which I cannot say for all of our previous crews. Their teamwork, professionalism, and warm personalities made the week extra special. While I know it is unlikely we could get them as a team again, we would book them in a heartbeat if we could and hope to sail with one or both on a future charter.

From the moment we stepped aboard Okeana, our expectations were exceeded. The yacht made an amazing first impression, and everything that followed lived up to it.

The accommodations were exactly what we were looking for—cozy, comfortable cabins and well-appointed bathrooms. The deck, salon, and cockpit offered plenty of lounging space, perfect for relaxing and soaking in the views. The yacht was kept impeccably clean throughout the charter, and we never found ourselves missing a thing—there were more toys, games, food, and drinks than we could’ve asked for, plus endless water activities and snorkeling.

The crew truly made the experience unforgettable. Captain Dal was professional, friendly, and highly knowledgeable. He made sure we were always informed, offered flexible options for the itinerary, and even joined us for a few snorkeling excursions, pointing out highlights along the way.

Chef Eden was nothing short of outstanding. Every meal was beautifully presented, with plenty of variety and attention to dietary needs—including gluten-free options with every dish. We were treated to an incredible culinary experience three times a day, and never once felt the need to snack between meals.

The itinerary was perfect for our first charter—thoughtfully curated with input from the whole group. A special highlight was an island adventure added to celebrate our daughter’s engagement, which meant so much to us.

Overall, the crew created a warm, welcoming atmosphere in close quarters, always attentive to our comfort and enjoyment. We’ve already recommended the experience to friends, and would absolutely sail again.

Eden is truly the most incredible hostess. Eden´s meals were unreal - Michelin star level if we´re qualified to say that! The yacht truly felt like home - clean, tidy and a place for everyone to have their own space or be all together. Could not have asked for a better experience exploring the BVI.

Their attentiveness to our needs was exceptional, striking a balance between being available when needed and allowing us our own space to enjoy our time on the boat.

The food Eden prepared for us was excellent in both presentation and taste, and her cocktails were the perfect complement to the beautiful surroundings. Each meal was a delightful experience that added to the overall enjoyment of our trip.

Their professionalism, hospitality, and expertise made our sailing adventure in the Virgin Islands an unforgettable experience. We highly recommend this crew to anyone looking for a perfect blend of relaxation, exploration, and exceptional service on the water.

The crew fitted right into our merry crew and joined in our antics. We learned new words and had a blast! The DRINK OF THE DAY always packed a punch.

We all sit here looking for tissues on our last morning and planning our next BVI trip!!

This was a fantastic vacation! Jane and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with our daughter, her husband, and our two granddaughters. Captain Dal and Mate JJ made this a memorable time. Dal knew all about the islands and he did a wonderful job of not only being our Captain, but our tour guide as well. JJ used our Preference Sheets to prepare meals that were ´over the top´. The weather was good, the islands were great, and the boat and crew fit us perfectly. Okeana was just right for our needs. Having four cabins not only allowed the grandparents and parents to have their own cabin, but the two granddaughters also had their own separate cabins. This was a huge plus. We loved spending time on the Top Deck and Fly Bridge (cool breezes). A lot of time was spent on the Fore Deck ... sunbathing and playing
board games. Having air-conditioned cabins made the evenings very comfortable. The boat was well maintained, and Dal kept everything spotless during the days.

Our family of 5 and my sister in law spent a week sailing in the BVI on the “Okeana” in July 2021. Our captain was Raphael (“Raph”) Marshall-Naef, and our chef was Isabel Sollberg. Everything about the trip was perfect. Raph is a great captain with lots of experience sailing in the BVI, and he took us to all of the best snorkeling spots and fun locations like Soggy Dollar and Willy T’s. Isabel’s cooking was amazing. Best of all, Raph and Isabel are two of the nicest and most fun people you could meet. Our family has done a lot of traveling and everyone thought it was the best trip ever. We all highly recommend Raph and Isabel, 10 out of 10 stars!!

We spent an amazing week sailing the islands of the BVIs on a 49 foot catamaran, the Okeana! She is a beautiful yacht with a great open design. The best part of the Okeana is the crew. The Skipper, Raph is knowledgeable of the waters and attractions, super competent and confident. He made sure we had a safe, fun and relaxing adventure. Isabel, the chef catered to our every culinary and dietary need. Each meal was beautifully presented and delicious! Isabel took great effort to accommodate to each of our dietary restrictions and tastes. This was a first sailing charter for most of our party and everyone had a great time! We will definitely be back!
