Captain
Crew
Captain Don Fung Fook started sailing when he was 14, in the “Land of Many Waters”, his native Guyana. Don moved to the Virgin Islands in 2004, and immediately got involved in the yachting business, driving Guana Island’s owner´s motoryacht. Don is a keen traveler, and he says he’s a “foodie”, not that you could tell by the slender shadow he casts! Should you have the chance, Don regales in playing table tennis, challenge him if you dare! Don was previously skipper aboard the Lagoon 52 cat Freedom and the Irwin 68 ketch Rhapsody here in the BVI. Don is known for his incredible smile and easygoing attitude.
Captaincies. Don is joined by his sister, Erica as the chef/mate aboard SOMEWHERE HOT. Erica previously chartered and cooked aboard the Irwin 68 ketch ´Rhapsody´ in the BVI.

Somewhere Hot Guest Reviews

We wish we could take Erica home with us! How someone can cook that well in such a small kitchen is beyond us. She’s fun, kind, and professional. We would start our morning with a beautifully plated yogurt bowl or fruit salad followed by hot breakfast which was something new and delicious each day. Her lunches were fresh and incorporated local produce. For dinner, she served us an appetizer, full entree, and dessert each night! We had everything from shrimp to steak to fish and more. She’s clearly professional trained. While we were swimming and having fun, she was making sure our drinks were full and brought snacks out. I wish I had the vocabulary to fully explain her food - just know that you will taste the perfect combination of ingredients if you’re lucky enough to have her has your chef. Erica was a huge part of the reason why our vacation was so amazing and relaxing. We’ve also never seen anyone clean and do dishes faster! She’s amazing! Thank you, Erica, for an unforgettable trip and for your incredible food!

From even before we landed, Erica was great to work with. She understood well our dietary restrictions and was very accommodating to one of our guest’s food allergy in her menu planning. We were a little nervous to travel with all the covid regulations but when we arrived, she really helped us feel comfortable and settled in. She had a great personality that made it so delightful having her on board and around even when not cooking. My group loved her laugh and she added so much life to that Caribbean experience. Her cooking was amazing, beautiful, colorful. And my group loved how her food was authentically Caribbean infused. It made the meals filling and no one went to bed hungry (or sober). I have been on a few charters already and a few others in my group and so far we all agree she was our favorite. I would recommend her by far to any group. And I will personally be requesting her on my next trip back to the BVI.
